Currently, there are many types of forklifts, each with its own characteristics. Based on operation modes, forklifts can be classified into eight categories: pallet trucks, pallet stackers, counterbalance forklifts, Reach Trucks, order pickers, rough terrain forklifts, heavy-duty forklifts, and telescopic forklifts.
Pallet Trucks
Pallet Trucks are divided into electric Pallet Trucks and manual Pallet Trucks, with a general load capacity of around 2 tons. They are mainly used for transporting goods inside and outside warehouses and production lines. As they don't have lifting masts, Pallet Trucks are only suitable for flat surface transportation. Although Pallet Trucks cannot lift goods, their purchase and rental costs are much lower.

Pallet Stackers
Also known as stacking forklifts, Pallet Stackers are wheeled vehicles designed for loading, stacking, and transporting palletized goods over short distances. They are equipped with masts but lack a driver's cab, allowing for flexible handling and stacking.

Counterbalance Forklifts
Counterbalance forklifts are currently the most widely used type of forklift. The forks extend beyond the centerline of the front wheels, with counterweights at the rear of the forklift. There are two types: internal combustion and electric. Internal combustion forklifts hold 80% of the market share, offering high power and long operation time, though they are noisy and produce emissions. Electric forklifts, usually used indoors, have low noise, no emissions, and are popular for handling food and materials in cold storage.

Reach Trucks
Reach Trucks are a type of warehouse vehicle, available in sit-down and stand-up models. They have a smaller lifting capacity and are typically powered by electric motors. Electric Reach Trucks are agile, easy to operate, environmentally friendly, and quiet.

Order Pickers
Also known as picking forklifts, Order Pickersare composed of a lifting system, body, and electrical system. Operators can stand on the platform for easy material picking. With lifting heights between 4 and 6 meters, they are suitable for narrow aisles and high-rack warehouses.

Rough Terrain Forklifts
Also called off-road forklifts, rough terrain forklifts are specialized vehicles with strong off-road capabilities, ideal for handling materials in poor road conditions. They are usually powered by internal combustion diesel engines, which offer high torque, high thermal efficiency, and high power with fewer harmful emissions compared to gasoline engines.

Heavy-Duty Forklifts
Heavy-duty forklifts, with a load capacity of over 13 tons, include container forklifts and container stackers. They are less commonly used and are primarily applied in heavy industry and port container handling.

Telescopic Forklifts
Telescopic forklifts have an extendable boom, with forks or attachments mounted on the boom for lifting or handling goods. These forklifts can reach over obstacles and work through openings, allowing multi-row stacking and unstacking in complex environments. With good forward visibility and low height clearance requirements, they can sometimes be classified under rough terrain forklifts.
