What is a Reach Stacker?

Reach stacker is a type of crane used to load and unload containers. It is a type of lifting equipment. Reach stackers are specially designed for 20-foot and 40-foot international containers. They are mainly used for stacking containers and horizontal transportation within docks and yards. Compared with forklifts, they are more flexible, easy to operate, more stable, have lower wheel pressure, have higher stacking layers, and have higher yard utilization. They can perform cross-container operations. They are especially suitable for container loading and unloading in small and medium-sized ports, railway and highway stations, and can also be used as auxiliary equipment in large container terminals.

Reach stackers are generally not classified. Although containers are divided into large and small boxes, the size of the reach stacker's sling can be adjusted according to the size of the box. Reach stackers have retractable and left-right rotating container slings, which can be used for 20-foot and 40-foot container loading and unloading operations. When lifting containers, the reach stacker does not have to be perpendicular to the container, but can be operated at an angle to the container. After lifting, the sling can be rotated to pass through narrow passages. At the same time, the spreader can be shifted 800mm to the left and right to facilitate the alignment of the box during lifting and improve work efficiency. For freight stations with poor site conditions, the reach stacker can also operate normally.
